In June 2012 I will head for Iceland. Starting out from Reykjavic I will be dodging volcanoes and cycling right around the mainland, sticking primarily to the sealed surfaces, but hopefully with a few excursions off the beaten track. I will be completely self sufficient, carrying all my gear including tent, sleeping bag, cooking facilities. I will be undertaking the challenge in aid of the charity Hope and Homes For Children
About Me & This Blog
Hi I'm Mitch and thanks for viewing my blog site for "Ice-cycle", specifically created for my cycle trip around Iceland. I have a confession.....I have a wanderlust problem and the older I get the worse the condition has become! In 2010 I partially "scratched the itch" by taking a year off work to travel the World with my girlfriend & baby daughter. An incredibly beautiful trip for a multitude of reasons taking us to China, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand & The West Coast of America. My biggest frustration in life is knowing that I have not got enough time left on this planet of ours to tick off every place on my ever growing bucket list ! Cycling is one of the great passions of mine and its helps satisfy my addiction to travel and adventure. I believe that cycling helps you "get through the woods, but at a slow enough pace so that you are still be able to see the trees". So take a seat, sit back and come with me on an adventure around Iceland

I'll Soon Be Sitting On A Thorn !
I've been measured up and the new addition to my (cycling) family has been ordered and should be ready to pick up in March..... a brand new Thorn Raven Tour http://www.thorncycles.co.uk/ Unfortunately the chances of getting any sponsorship from Thorn are next to zero, but I will give them a plug anyhow as they were very helpful (thanks Stephen) and you never know where in the World I might need a spare part shipped or support under warranty. Stories from other people I know suggest that the bikes are great and the support is excellent.
